Story & Atmosphere
Nestled in the heart of Phoenix, Pomeroy’s captures the genuine spirit of a classic dive bar with a warm, welcoming vibe. From the moment you step inside their cozy location on N 7th St, you’re greeted by a hub of friendly faces and a relaxed atmosphere that feels more like gathering at a friend's house than visiting a local bar.
The charm of Pomeroy’s lies in its perfectly balanced blend of hearty bar fare and a vibrant social scene. While the menu doesn’t boast gourmet pretensions, the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and satisfying—comfort food done right. Whether you’re craving a robust burger, crispy fries, or other bar staples, each dish arrives as a testament to honest, unpretentious cooking that hits the spot every time. As one patron put it, the food here “isn’t five-star fancy, but it’s hardy, tasty and made fresh,” which perfectly sums up the kitchen’s approach.
Service at Pomeroy’s strikes an admirable middle ground; bartenders like Danny and Ryan are both skilled and personable, enhancing the experience beyond just serving drinks. The community feel is palpable—regulars turn up not only for the food and drinks but for the camaraderie, whether it’s a game of pool, darts, shuffleboard, or bantering over the jukebox or arcade machines. The bartenders’ attentiveness—even celebrating special occasions like birthday shots—further anchors the place as a neighborhood staple.
For those chasing the quintessential dive bar experience, Pomeroy’s is a treasure trove: affordable drinks at great prices, lively game options, and a football-friendly environment that keeps things buzzing especially on weekend nights. While parking can be a bit scarce, the reward lies inside where the atmosphere is consistently electric and the staff go the extra mile to make sure every visit is memorable.
In essence, Pomeroy’s offers more than just a place to grab a drink; it delivers a genuine, spirited slice of Phoenix life—with good food, good drinks, and above all, a sense of belonging that keeps patrons coming back again and again.
“ If you love dive bars, look no further. I have been coming here and have nothing bad to say about it. The service is 4/5 cause the staff lost my order but gave it to me no charge, I paid anyway cause it was worth the extra $10 I left for it. It is a fun, relaxed atmosphere, with good food, good drinks and nice staff. The parking is limited, and good luck finding a spot by it. ”
“ Best bar with the best prices. Touchtunes, Megatouch and Golden Tee available. Great place to watch football. 4 pool tables and shuffleboard. Restrooms are good. They run your card once. Danny, Ryan and all the bartenders are the best! ”
“ Pomeroys is an old style bar where people are treated like friends or family. It’s got excellent bar food, isn’t five star fancy food, but it’s hardy, tasty and made fresh. Bartenders are competent and occasionally there’s a waitress but most of the time you go up and order your own drink. There are pool tables, dartboards, shuffleboard and a few video games. It has one of the best local bar feels to it and once you walk in the door and it closes behind you it’s a hometown bar that could be anywhere in the United States. It’s a place to meet friends and family when you just wanna get out of the house and hang out. I’ve been going there, (35+ years) off and on for ever and it’s always the same feel and vibe. It isn’t trendy it’s traditional. It’s the type place that if you’re a little homesick, this place feels like home. ”
